Starflix.com launches its online video rental service with home delivery across Canada
A service that will revolutionize the way videos are rented
Montréal, August 31, 2004 −Today, Montréal corporation Starflix is launching an innovative online rental service through its Starflix.com website that allows subscribers to receive an unlimited number of DVD videos per month−− delivered right to their home. With over 16,000 movie titles to choose from and distribution centers across Canada, Starflix is bulldozing its way into this quickly expanding market.
« At Starflix we are proud to have developed highly advanced technology for processing orders, as well as the most efficient distribution system in the country,” said Mr. Vincent Puorto, Starflix´s president. “Our online service is very competitive because it offers many advantages: videos are delivered right to our clients´ doors, so they don´t have to leave the comfort of their home; there are no deadlines for returning videos, so there are no late fees, and with warehouses throughout the country we provide speedy delivery. Our service is also accessible 24 hours a day and we offer an unbeatable selection of over 16,000 recent and classic movie titles, compared to the 5,000 that are generally available at video stores. »
Starflix.com first asks subscribers to create a list of 20 videos. Videos are then mailed three at a time directly to the subscriber´s front door, with no postage fee and usually within two working days. With no fixed return date, subscribers can keep videos until they wish to receive the following videos detailed on their list. Returning videos is absolutely free. Clients simply send the videos back through any Canada Post mailbox with the pre−paid envelope that accompanies each DVD. Once the video is received, Starflix sends the subscriber another DVD outlined on their list.
A subscription to Starflix is offered at $24.95 per month for an unlimited number of videos, is payable by credit card, and all without a contract. Starflix also offers a two−week free trial. With warehouses in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver, Starflix is at the forefront of the industry and delivers videos to clients across the country within the shortest timeframe.
According to Statistics Canada, the market for the sale and rental of videos for domestic use accounts for $227 million dollars per year and is in full growth. "We predict the market for video rentals via the Internet will attain 500,000 subscribers within two years. Our objective is to secure a third of that market. The potential is huge because this service responds to the needs of movie lovers everywhere, who are often busy people looking to avoid late fees and time−consuming trips to the video store," maintains Mr. Puorto.
"Video rentals are turning towards the Internet and Starflix plans on leading this trend, which is quickly gaining popularity both in the United States and Canada," says Mr. Puorto. "Starflix is in a position to answer this present demand, as well as any future online services. Internet rentals with postal delivery are a step towards the downloading of videos, a service we are developing now and will be offering once the Internet infrastructure allows for it."
